My father, Luis, wasn't always a master cheesemaker. For years, he crafted jewelry with his hands, until one day he decided to pour all that love for artisanal work into something different: cheese. More than 25 years ago, he left behind the sparkle of metal to dedicate himself to something that connected him with the land, with the flavors of his childhood: transforming sheep's milk into the best cheese he could imagine. Since then, he hasn't stopped pursuing it.
I am Rodri, his son, and I grew up by his side, watching every step of this adventure. Today, we both form the Peñas Negras Family, with a clear commitment: to keep this legacy alive and bring it to your table.
We know what it's like to look for an authentic product and not find it. Over the years, we have met many people like you: passionate about gastronomy, careful about what they eat, but frustrated by the difficulty of finding truly good cheeses, like those of yesteryear.
That's why, at Peñas Negras, we decided to do things differently. We are committed to limited, artisanal, and honest production, with high-quality sheep's milk and natural maturation. No additives or rushing. We take care of every detail, from the taste to the presentation, so that when you try it, you feel like you've found that cheese that seemed lost.
